Community Rules

 

These rules apply to all users on the AetherTale Network, regardless of any package or rank purchased from our store.

We highly recommend that each user reads and follows these rules to avoid receiving punishments. 
Decisions made by staff are typically final but can be reversed with an appeal if false. 

 

Disclaimer

Rules can be updated at any time. You will will be notified in discord (with an @everyone tag) and a forum post will be created, alerting users of the change. We will never accept the excuse "I didn't know the rules".

Every solid community has rules in place to prevent nefarious players from going rogue and ruining the fun for everyone else. Everywhere you go has rules. You know there's rules. 
Using loopholes in the rules won't grant you immunity to punishments. Admins can use discretion to issue punishments for anything that isn’t directly specified in the rules if it is seen as malicious to the server or community.

If you feel that a staff member is abusing their permissions or breaking the rules, directly message PurrfectMistake on Discord or you can create a ticket. Make sure you include evidence in your report otherwise it will be ignored.

 

Chat Rules

Rule 1 - Swearing / Cussing

• Swearing is allowed in our community however it must not be excessive.
  Often warnings are given out (meaningless) and unless you continue to swear despite the warnings, nothing will come of it.
  If you swear a lot, you will be temporarily muted.

Rule 2 - Spamming

• Do not spam in chat, economic advertisements (to sell your items) are allowed once every 3 minutes

Rule 3 - Appropriate Naming

• Anything nameable in-game needs to be appropriate. (Don't give your items, pets or warps innapropriate names)

Rule 4 - Bullying

• Do not harass, bully or threaten any players or staff. Show everyone respect. We are all here to have fun and escape our lives.
• We will not tolerate any racism, ableism, sexism or hate speech in our community. Everyone is welcome here.
  
  

Rule 5 - Creeps

• Any behaviour considered to be paedophilic in nature will result in an instant, permanent ban from our servers indefinitely with no chance of appeal.
  (This includes item names, nicknames, DM Messages, discord.. heck, if there's any thing and we find out about it, we will ban you). We want our community to be a safe place.

Rule 6 - Doxxing / Private Information

• Do not reveal any information about any player / person (public figures are allowed);
  This is called doxxing, and is illegal. We genuinely will report the cybercrime to our government, along with all evidence.
  Swatting (a result of doxxing) has claimed lives in the past on the internet due to someone trying to be funny or as a malicious attack.

 

Gameplay Rules

Rule 1 - Mods / Modified Clients

• Absolutely no mods / tools that would give you an unfair advantage over others (No cheat clients / fly / kill aura / xray / Autoclickers / Freecam / keybind macros etc). If it can be considered an unfair advantage or cheating, don't use it. Ask a staff member if you're unsure.
  
  
• Quality of Life (QoL) or Aesthetic mods  are allowed
  - Fullbright mod
  - HUD Display mod
  - Minimap display (Player entities must not show with the mod you choose)
  - Low Fire / No Fire visual mods allowed
  - Shaders
  
  
• Cosmetic mods are allowed

• Auto-fish mods are not allowed

Rule 2 - Do not trap players outside realistic means

• Traps are a mechanic in the game, we can't deny that. We allow them. However, we don't allow traps that aren't realistic (teleporter traps for example). As the player genuinely be stuck, even after they die.
  While this may be funny to some. It can be very fustrating for the player, even after they've lost all their gear. Trap responsibly.

Rule 3 - Scamming

• Scamming other players is allowed. 
  We allow this, to teach players that not everyone is trustworthy and there are malicious people in the world only out for their own benefit and nobody elses. Who hasn't been scammed for some gold on OSRS?. We believe it is an important thing for people to always be aware of in real life as well. By allowing this rule, we're helping you build your judge of character!
  Our advice is to safely shop within the auctionhouse or a player shop - a middleman system, rather than a hand-to-hand trade. The auctionhouse has a 5% tax on the item, that beats a 100% loss on a trade gone bad!.

Rule 4 - Do not make innapropriate builds

• Self explanatory. We don't need to see swastikas or genitalia in block form in our beautiful landscape. Don't be immature.

Rule 5 - Impersonation

• Do not impersonate AetherTale staff
• Do not impersonate Hytale staff / developers
• Do not impersonate a Content creator 

Rule 6 - Intentional Lagging

• Utilizing the game mechanics (mod or vanilla) in malicious ways to intentionally lag the server is a bannable offense. All blocks placed are logged with rollback capabilities in this event
  
  

Rule 7 - Advertising

• Do not advertise other communities (Hytale or Minecraft) as it is not allowed in any capacity.
  
  

Rule 8 - Abuse

• Do not abuse a glitch / exploit within the game. They are a bannable offense as it brings an unfair advantage to you above others and is not in the game by design.
  This includes Modpack / plugin glitches and vanilla Hytale glitches
  
  
• Allowed bugs / glitches to be used are:
  - none as of right now

 

Miscellaneous Rules

 

Rule 1 - Exchanging

• Exchanging items for any currency other than for in-game items or for products in store is strictly forbidden. (Example: Trading a sword in-game for 100,000 OSRS gold)
  
  
• Any deals made where real money is involved must be honored by both parties, otherwise the person who scammed will recieve a permanent ban. This is to keep things fair for all players involved.
  
  
• Sending webstore credit from one account to another isn't usually allowed. There are periods of time in the year when we enable it so players can do so! (This keeps things a little interesting). - However, we can make exceptions if you create a ticket.
  
  
• Once something is purchased in the AetherTale webstore, the purchase is final. We will not "undo" a transaction and apply credit or a refund because of a lapse in judgement when purchasing. We're sorry, but this is to prevent abuse.

Rule 2 - Begging

• For the love of god, don't beg for ranks, items or anything. We're a free-to-play server!
  
  
• Do not beg staff to check your staff application. Staff will check it and have their input when they are able to.

 

Rule 3 - Bypassing Punishments

• Do not attempt to bypass punishments by using a VPN, different account or by abusing in-game commands / items
  If caught, punishment on your alt will be a permanent ban and your main account punishment will be increased.

 

Rule 4 - Account Sharing

• Its your account, you do what you want with it. If you share it with someone, and if they break the rules on your account.. Your account will still be punished. You are responsible for your own account.

 

Rule 5 - Replacing Lost Items

• 99.9% of the time, we won't replace lost items unless there is solid enough proof of what you had lost at the time the issue happened, and we feel that we aren't being lied to / manipulated just to get free things.
  If you use clipping software (Like Medal) would be a perfect solution for this. (Sorry, we wish we could be kinder about this but too many people are malicious in this way)

 

Rule 6 - Loans

• If you loan your buddy in-game money and he doesn't pay you back - that's allowed.
• We heavily advise against deciding to agree to a financial loan with a friend for something in our webstore. While we do not allow scams that involve real-world-money, loans would be harder to prove. Be sure to get as much evidence as possible of transactions and and agreements! Take caution when agreeing to such deals. We will have your back, assuming you collect all evidence.

 

Discord Rules

Rule 1 - Pining

• Do not cold ping OR direct message staff or content creators.
  
  

Rule 2 - No Bullying

• Everybody is welcome here. We don't tolerate discussing, mentioning, or posting anything that is hateful, illegal, or derogatory. This includes all variations of: - Hate Speech & Bigotry - Doxxing & Privacy Violations - Harassment & Cyberbullying - Threats of Violence - Sexual Harassment
  
  

Rule 3 - No NSFW / NSFL Content

• Zero tolerance for discussing, mentioning, or posting anything that is NSFW/NSFL. This includes memes, anime, shows, etc.

Rule 4 - Controvertial Topics

• Try to avoid controversial topics that include religion or politics but, that's impossible these days. We'll be leaninent on this rule but if someone asks you to stop, stop.
  
  

Rule 5 - Advertising

• Advertising / Promoting other servers, discords, websites or social media accounts is not allowed. This includes DMs to people you don't know as well. This excludes posting about content related to the AetherTale server (YouTube videos / Streams)

Rule 6 - Language 

• This is an English only server. Other languages are allowed to be spoken, but through private messages in-game and not in public chat.

Rule 7 - Name needs to be appropriate

• Your Discord nickname or your Hytale username must not be rude / obscene.
  
  

Rule 8 - Flashy Content

• No flashy content. This means no flashy profile pictures, videos, emotes, gifs, etc. We have an epileptic staff member and we feel it is an issue not considered nor taken seriously enough in everyday life.

Rule 9 - Rank / Role Shaming

• Rank or Role shaming is not allowed.

Rule 10 - "Illegal Information"

• No spreading "Illegal" information (Bugs / exploits from the Hytale Server).
  
  

Rule 11 - Impersonation

• No Impersonations of any Staff / Verified Content Creators / Hytale Devs.
  
  

Rule 12 - Spoiler Tags

• Appropriately use ||Discord Spoiler|| tags when needed.

 

Rule 13 - Voice Chat Courtesy

• Voice Chat Common Courtesy - Reduce background noise as much as possible with Discord's noise suppression system in your Voice settings. Don't purposely yell, scream, make horrible noises, etc. in voice chats to annoy people. If you wish to use a discord bot for music but its in use.. be patient, do not force it to move into your voice channel; wait your turn or listen together.

 

Rule 14 -  Copyrighted Content

• When streaming content, do not stream or show any content that is not appropriate for ages 13+ without age warning. Additionally, any copyrighted content or paywall (Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, etc.) content is strictly prohibited in accordance with Discord's Terms of Service. [We often host teleparties which require a paid streaming account for each viewer to participate, we all simply join discord voice as a group to laugh and enjoy ourselves all without violating Discords ToS.]

 

Rule 15 - Staff have final say

• Staff have final say. Do not argue with staff about punishments, if you do not agree with what's been dished out to you, contact a Senior-Mod or an Administrator.

 

As a final statement - anyone found to violate the Discord Terms of Service will be removed from the server and reported to Discord appropriately. This includes the use of Better Discord, planning raids, links that crash Discord, and more.
